There are problems with heat molding carbon soles, firstly any resin that can be heat molded has a low glass transition temperature, this means it goes soft when heated. Low glass transition resin is cheap and has lower mechanical properties, this means it is not as strong or durable and also more likely to change shape over time or when you leave the shoes in the car on a hot day.
Zero shoes are made with high temperature resins to provide the most stable long term durability and strength.

Our footwear is designed from your foot out. The aim is to design and make a shoe that supports your foot and allows maximum power transfer with minimum fuss, and the only way to do this is to take every measurement and previous experience into account.
Some footwear manufacturers say that if a cast isn't taken of your foot then the shoe isn't custom made... With over 30 years experience we find that there is definitely more than one way to skin a cat. Each foot is different, with specific needs and requirements, the volume and circumference, the shape and length are all important factors, but custom made shoes are more than measurements, more than 'negatives' of your feet. Your feet are dynamic objects and require room to move as well as support, thus the art of custom making a shoe is intuitive as much as it is scientific, there is no formulae that will ensure a good fit, if it was that easy everyone would be doing it right?
Unlike many other custom makers we work from a variety of measurements as well as an in depth initial consultation with each of our customers about their riding style, what has and hasn't worked for them in the past and what are their major concerns.
We undertake a fit test, part of the way through the manufacturing process, where further assessment of the fit and requirements of the footwear are assessed.
Finally we hand craft the carbon sole taking into account the customers riding style, foot length and cleat position, as well as many other factors, to ensure maximum efficiency of composite placement and design. Forming it exactly to the foot shape and bonding it to the upper. Every step of the way, your specific requirements are at the forefront of the design.

Kangaroo leather is the best material to make a performance shoe, it is yet to be rivalled by synthetics. It is strong, light, durable and it breathes just like your skin. Synthetics are easier to work with and cheaper. Our Linings are of the highest quality and are picked for their moisture wicking performance as well as their durability, hundreds of hours of testing and many years of wear can attest to this.
Our custom molded carbon soles use high strength and high modulus carbon to provide the optimum stiffness to weight ratio, there are no fillers or low grade materials, only pure carbon composite, this is why our soles can be so thin and yet so stiff. We can also do custom cleat drilling for mid-foot, Speedplay, etc.

Our Design philosophy is black and white: if it doesn't need to be there don't include it. The same can be said for colour, as Henry Ford said, "you can have any colour you want so long as it's black" (in our case black or white), minimal fuss, clean simple and functional design is what informs the aesthetic of all Zero shoes.
Our lacing system is the most secure, adjustable, low profile, reliable lightweight closure available. There are no buckles to break, or create extra aerodynamic drag, they are highly adjustable to provide uniform pressure distribution across the entire foot.
